Helene is a sustainable tourism, hospitality and economic development expert with over 20 years' international experience gained in both the private and public sector. Her extensive knowledge and skills cover a broad spectrum of key issues ranging from strategy formulation to sustainable destination planning and from assessment of financial viability to enhancing destination competitiveness.
Helene started her career as a tourism consultant and worked on a wide range of consultancy assignments for Carl Bro International where she was initially based in Copenhagen, Denmark before being seconded to Johannesburg, South Africa.
She then joined PKF Hotel Consultancy Services in London conducting numerous hotel feasibility and market studies as well as preparing tourism strategies and reviews in destinations as far flung as Denmark, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Previously, Helene worked as destination development manager for the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), where she managed a comprehensive tourism development programme for the Hastings & Bexhill area as part of large coastal economic regeneration programme.
More recently Helene has been working as an independent consultant advising a wide range of private and public sector clients including the Icelandic Government on developing a long-term strategy for the Icelandic tourism industry focusing on green growth and attracting sustainable foreign direct investment. In South East England she has prepared a strategic tourist accommodation study for the coastal resort of Eastbourne.
Helene is a fellow of the Tourism Society and a member of the British Hospitality Professionals Association.
